ACTIVITIES
Day Program
Our daily adult program runs year round, Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 5:30pm. Participants can expect to participate in various activities such as art, music, exercise, and cooking. We hope our activities will increase individuals' in daily living skills, social skills, and community integration. We also provide multiple therapies such as art therapy, music therapy and animal therapy.
extracurriculars
Outside our daily programs, our Participants have the unique opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities. These include service projects through Aktion Club, exercising with a certified fitness trainer, hip-hop dance classes, and therapeutic horseback riding.
Special olympics
Along with our daily exercise activities, we offer team sports. EFGC has basketball, cheerleading, rhythmic gymnastics, swim, baseball, golf, and cycling. We compete in the Alabama State Special Olympics Games, hosted by Troy University. By competing in Special Olympics our Participants will increase physical health and enhance self-esteem and competitive nature.
field trips
Included with our day program, the Exceptional Foundation Gulf Coast offers several opportunities to explore the community. Our staff organizes field trips to include weekly bowling outings, serving at Prodisee Pantry, afternoons at the movies, and many more. We also join with EF of Birmingham for the annual Exceptional Foundation Beach Trip.
